About FanArt

One of my favorite hobbies I love to do, is create graphic art from public domain imagery. I love to restore old public domain photos/film captures in particular. Depending on the quality of the image, some can be quite difficult to work with; however, it's fun to see what kind of ideas I can come up with. I also like to create FanArt. From time to time, I'll be sharing all of my personal art; art from public domain, and my FanArt. Most of the art I've created are designed as desktop wallpaper. Please follow the simple instructions below to learn how to put my art on your desktop. Also, please do not hesitate to share them with your friends; it would be not only a great way to support me, but show appreciation for cinematic history and my blogs. Most will be for wide-screen monitors, however, you can go into your desktop properties and change the viewing to your taste. Thanks.

Instructions: Simply click on the wallpaper link your interested in. The desired wallpaper will open up in a new window. Depending on your browser, Right-click on wallpaper image. You will see a list of options. Some will already give you the option to "save as background", this will automatically put the image on your desktop. If you do not have a wide-screen monitor, just go to your properties and change the image placement. Other browsers should give you a "Save image as" option, at this point, you will be able to save the image on your computer, and then right click on it to "Set As Wallpaper". That's it!! Enjoy.

Mini Biography

Roberta Hyson was an actress and nightclub dancer. She was in the first black talkie shorts made in Hollywood, she made these films with Evelyn Preer who formed a great comedy duo with her. Roberta was great with comedy, expressions, gestures, which was also displayed well in her dancing. She also had a dynamic singing voice.

Roberta Hyson was the ultimate performer, a popular entertainer in the late 1920s and early 1930s in California and in films her roles were not stereotypical but enjoyable, her roles and her presence were never shameful or typical. She was one of the few who got a chance to “just be” on screen and that is enough to make her one of the first and few blacks who became and provided good images and she should be remembered in cinema and black cinema.

RALPH MACCIO

Italian-American born actor, is probably best known for his star role in “The Karate Kid Collection (Four Film Set)” (1984). Not only that, as far as I can remember, the movie was such a success, he’s done 2 more sequels. He looks so different today, you would never think it was the same person..  Did you know that, Chuck Norris turned down the role of John Kreese? Chuck Norris felt that he did not want to portray a character that, reinforces the negative stereotype of martial arts (in those days)… Now almost every movie has some form of martial arts. I guess we owe a lot to Bruce Lee for making that happen; now he is forgotten legend..

poitier3-sized.jpgSIDNEY POITIER

Mr. Poitier is undoubtedly, one of the few greatest actors ever lived. He has appeared in such classics as “To sir with love”. Their was a sequel to this movie, but I don’t think it has done as well as the original. Another famous movie he’s done was a movie “My name Mr. Tibbs”, and also “Lilies of the Field“. He has won numerous awards, not to mention an Oscar, Golden Globe, & American Institute for life achievement. If you haven’t seen any of his movies, just pick one, and I guarantee, you will fall in love with his acting, in the same way that the rest of the world has.
